Dancing with Dragonflies & Meddling with Mushrooms

Here in the glass studio, we are still feeling inspired by summertime. We are aware that the days are growing ever shorter, and our hoodies have already made a few appearances, but we don’t care. Summer isn’t over until the Equinox, and I intend to squeeze every last delicious drop out of this season until then.

Dragonflies by Family Tree Glass
We just stocked some new Dragonfly pendants in a variety of bold and vibrant colors!

One of my favorite parts of summer is when the dragonflies swarm our yard at dusk, swooping and swirling and spiraling, and the kids always feel the urge to join in the fun! Dancing among the dragonflies, they inspired me to get on the torch and make some glass dragonfly pendants, which I haven’t done in a while. (You can check them out  now on our new  Animal Spirit Pendants page!)

I have always felt a kinship with dragonflies, and I am grateful to them for their message. Dragonflies carry the wisdom of transformation and adaptability in life. They are symbols of change and light. When the dragonfly shows up in your life, it is usually to remind you to bring more lightness and joy into your life.

Shroom by Family Tree Glass
People always swear the 3D mushrooms encased in these pendants must be real, but they are actually made entirely of glass!

Another magical realm of summer that seems to have found it’s way into our creative consciousness recently is mushrooms. I opened the kiln one morning to find fungi! No, not the real thing… Brian had made some really cool shroom pendants the night before. You just can’t help but smile when you come across a patch of colorful little mushrooms! We used to make and sell alot of these back when we worked at festivals and fairs, but Brian doesn’t make them too often anymore. Coming across them in the studio was like a surprise visit from some old friends on a summer morning!

As far as I’m concerned, there’s still a couple weeks left of summer. And still plenty of sunny inspiration to bring with us into the glass studio. We are blessed… Mother Nature is the ultimate muse!glassblowers
