I was recently given the great honor of designing and creating a commemorative necklace for La Leche League International’s silver anniversary!. LLLI has been building a legacy of breastfeeding support for 60 years. The organization is an invaluable resource to mothers and babies all over the world… including my twin daughters and I, when we were just starting our breastfeeding journey. So you can imagine how excited I am to join LLLI in offering these exclusive, limited edition handblown glass Mother’s Milk droplet pendants!
Each commemorative necklace comes with a sterling silver tag engraved with “LLLI 60”. Plus, 25% of the proceeds from the sale of these necklaces will go right back to LLLI, helping them to continue building upon their legacy for generations to come. Each “Mother’s Milk” glass droplet pendant is individually flame sculpted out of crack-resistant glass. They are then kiln annealed to further ensure durability, and come lovingly packed in a gift box with your choice of one of these 2 necklace options:
- Droplet pendant on adjustable length black cord: $20./each
- Droplet pendant on 18″ sterling silver chain: $35./each
- These simple and elegant necklaces can be worn as is, or they can be used as a starter kit from which to build your personal commemorative piece of jewelry. Regional LLLI groups will be creating and distributing their own unique bead designs, and members are encouraged to add it to the strand, along with the beads from other area groups, building upon this legacy of mother-to-mother support! (Contact us for more details about bead dimensions, etc if your group will be participating in creating a bead!)

The “Mother’s Milk” glass droplet pendant is a symbol of love and sacrifice. Breast milk is a sacred river of purity and life, a physical manifestation of your spirit, flowing into and nourishing your newborn child. Whether you nursed well into toddlerhood, or struggled to get through those first few weeks… maybe you had to depend on the generosity of other mothers to nourish your baby… or perhaps you were a milk donor yourself. Some women choose to nurse openly in public, while others pump and bottle feed their breastmilk to their children. Each mother’s breastfeeding story is unique, and each one deserves to be celebrated.
Thank you, La Lecha League International! Congratulations on 60 wonderful years!
