Our new “Waterbirth” pendants have quickly become one of our most popular designs, so we’ve made them available in even more colors to choose from! Check them out in the Pendants catergory in our shopping section, and let us know what you think!
The design was inspired by the amazing waterbirths that I have attended as a doula, and is dedicated to all the beautiful mamas who have shared their birth experiences with me.
I have always been drawn to water more than any other element… (I am a classic Pisces!)… so when I became pregnant with my youngest, I decided this was the way to go for us. We spent countless hours (and our whole budget) making sure we had all the right equipment, converting our dining room into the perfect waterbirth sanctuary, and preparing for the arrival of our son in what was sure to be the perfect homebirth experience… we had a birth plan this time, and everything looked good on paper, so no problem, right? HA! Baby J decided he would NOT be born in the water after all, but on his own terms and in his own way… yet another example of how the best laid plans of parenting often get scattered faster than a bucket of legos on a hardwood floor!
I did enjoy laboring in that tub though, and I have wonderful memories of my husband and 2 daughters massaging me and showering me with love and affection as I floated through contractions. It truly was an amazing experience.
I am so glad that the idea of birthing in the water, once thought to be a weird choice only suited to those who choose to live life on the fringes of society, has since become a very natural, normal, and even mainstream concept.
